Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 1.91% or 0.77 points to trade at 41.16 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) added 1.68% or 1.070 points to end at 64.700 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 1.09% or 0.48 points to 44.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 2.22% or 0.31 points to trade at 13.68 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 1.72% or 0.57 points to end at 32.53 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 1.60% or 0.570 points to 35.030.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 84 to 36 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.08% or 0.96 to $1247.36 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.96% or 0.85 to hit $44.23 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.02% or 0.93 to trade at $46.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.19% to 1.1314, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.8849.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.80% at 96.33.
