Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 0.54% or 0.13 points to trade at 24.38 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 0.53% or 0.07 points to end at 13.29 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 0.45% or 0.240 points to 53.950 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which lost 2.04% or 1.14 points to trade at 54.71 in late trade. Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) declined 2.02% or 2.30 points to end at 111.45 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) shed 1.92% or 2.10 points to 107.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 105 to 44 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.44% or 5.65 to $1267.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.08% or 0.54 to hit $49.42 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.38% or 0.70 to trade at $50.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.0915, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8922.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 98.55.
