Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 1.99% or 0.27 points to trade at 13.84 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 1.61% or 0.52 points to end at 32.49 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was up 1.20% or 0.26 points to 21.88 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which lost 2.73% or 1.16 points to trade at 41.40 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 1.73% or 1.03 points to end at 58.43 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) shed 1.44% or 0.220 points to 15.025.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 55 to 53 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.71% or 9.00 to $1277.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.62% or 1.68 to hit $44.78 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.51% or 1.71 to trade at $47.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.1277, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.8808.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 96.45.
