Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 1.74% or 1.25 points to trade at 73.28 at the close. Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) added 1.25% or 1.40 points to end at 113.20 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 1.20% or 1.16 points to 98.14 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which lost 0.16% or 0.04 points to trade at 21.68 in late trade. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) declined 0.27% or 0.30 points to end at 109.45 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 0.22% or 0.07 points to 32.04.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 85 to 44 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.06% or 0.85 to $1325.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $47.35 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.36% or 0.18 to trade at $49.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.1220, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8540.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.60% at 95.25.
