Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.52% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 8.93% or 6.14 points to trade at 74.86 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 0.83% or 0.400 points to end at 48.450 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 0.22% or 0.12 points to 54.53 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 1.68% or 0.55 points to trade at 31.95 in late trade. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) declined 0.74% or 0.17 points to end at 23.52 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 0.67% or 0.340 points to 50.620.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 84 to 50 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.38% or 5.05 to $1348.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.54% or 1.13 to hit $45.62 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.55% or 1.20 to trade at $48.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.1195, while EUR/GBP rose 0.57% to 0.8693.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 95.50.
