Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Real Estate and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ageas (BRU:AGES), which rose 1.15% or 0.445 points to trade at 38.985 at the close. Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) added 1.09% or 0.57 points to end at 52.97 and Proximus NV (BRU:PROX) was up 0.93% or 0.32 points to 34.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included bpost NV (BRU:BPOST), which lost 3.77% or 0.91 points to trade at 23.09 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) declined 0.67% or 0.20 points to end at 29.63 and Elia (BRU:ELI) shed 0.65% or 0.245 points to 37.610.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 97 to 69 and 5 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.09% or 11.90 to $1106.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.01% or 0.88 to hit $44.75 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 3.14% or 1.54 to trade at $50.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.0998, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.7064.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 97.36.
