Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food Producers, Pharma & Bio-technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB), which rose 1.85% or 1.48 points to trade at 81.43 at the close. UCB (BRU:UCB) added 1.39% or 0.99 points to end at 71.96 and Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) was up 0.95% or 0.49 points to 52.12 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB), which lost 1.29% or 0.35 points to trade at 26.71 in late trade. Engie SA (PARIS:ENGIE) declined 1.08% or 0.19 points to end at 17.17 and Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) shed 1.04% or 1.20 points to 114.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 93 to 74 and 4 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.30% or 3.40 to $1115.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.68% or 0.29 to hit $42.70 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.10 to trade at $48.63 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1033, while EUR/GBP fell 0.84% to 0.7048.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 97.00.
