Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.24% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.70% or 0.660 points to trade at 39.550 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) added 0.97% or 1.10 points to end at 114.60 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.93% or 0.65 points to 70.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which lost 0.58% or 0.30 points to trade at 51.37 in late trade. Elia (BR:ELI) declined 0.37% or 0.170 points to end at 46.280 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) shed 0.37% or 0.40 points to 107.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 74 to 73 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.01% or 0.10 to $1234.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.89% or 0.37 to hit $41.34 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $43.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.1319, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.7929.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 94.45.
