Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 1.27% or 0.50 points to trade at 40.01 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 1.00% or 0.115 points to end at 11.640 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was up 0.99% or 0.24 points to 24.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 1.36% or 0.730 points to trade at 53.060 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 1.25% or 0.33 points to end at 25.74 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 0.41% or 0.12 points to 27.91.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 82 to 70 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.67% or 8.45 to $1271.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.94% or 1.48 to hit $51.77 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.44% or 1.26 to trade at $52.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0966, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8940.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 97.91.
