Investing.com – Australia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the IT, Industrials and Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.90% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Aconex Ltd (AX:ACX), which rose 7.28% or 0.270 points to trade at 3.980 at the close. Syrah Res F (AX:SYR) added 4.81% or 0.140 points to end at 3.050 and IPH Ltd (AX:IPH) was up 3.78% or 0.180 points to 4.940 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galaxy Resources Ltd (AX:GXY), which lost 4.17% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.460 in late trade. Saracen Mineral Holdings Ltd (AX:SAR) declined 2.40% or 0.025 points to end at 1.015 and Blackmores Ltd (AX:BKL) shed 2.20% or 2.60 points to 115.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 637 to 455 and 351 ended unchanged on the Sydney Stock Exchange.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.26% to 11.748.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.55% or 6.85 to $1248.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.50% or 0.24 to hit $48.61 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.23 to trade at $51.65 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.13% to 0.7643, while AUD/JPY rose 0.13% to 84.96.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 99.60.
