United Auto Workers (UAW) union will strike at Volvo Group-owned (OTCPK: VLVLY) heavy-duty truck maker Mack Trucks starting Monday for better wages, job security, and pension, among other demands.

What Happened: The nearly 4,000 workers at Mack Trucks had received a tentative agreement from the company on Oct.1, near midnight.

About 73% of the workers voted against the tentative agreement and the strike will now commence at 7 a.m. on Monday, the union said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

“Employees working at that time will exit their facilities in an orderly manner after performing tasks necessary to prevent damage to the Company’s equipment or product,” UAW wrote in a letter to Volvo Trucks North America.

Why It Matters: UAW kickstarted a strike against the Detroit Three– Ford Motor Co, General Motors Co, and Stellantis NV– on Sept. 15 at midnight. The strike is now in its fourth week with no clear end in sight.

“I’m inspired to see UAW members at Mack holding out for a better deal, and ready to stand up and walk off the job to win it,” UAW President Shawn Fain said about the decision of Mack workers to strike.
