What to expect from PMQs
The leader of the opposition, Kier Starmer, usually gets to ask six questions to the Prime Minister.
Boris Johnson has come under fire in recent weeks due to accounts of numerous parties and social gatherings at his residence, 10 Downing Street, during the various lockdowns.
Labour leader Kier Starmer will likely question Johnson on the parties. Last week, Starmer called on Johnson to resign as Prime Minister, arguing that it would be in the “national interest” for him to step down.
The Prime Minister must also face questions from other MPs. The leader of the third-largest party, in this case, the Scottish National Party, usually asks two questions.
The Scottish National Party’s leader in the House of Commons is Ian Blackford. Last week, Johnson was seen laughing at Blackford when he also called on the Prime Minister to resign.
Partygate Scandal
Prime Minister’s Questions may get more eyes than usual this week as the UK waits for the report from Sue Gray's investigation into the lockdown parties.
If the report is released before PMQs then there may be additional calls for the Prime Minister to resign.
If the report is delayed, Prime Minister Johnson may try to deflect questions on Partygate, suggesting that any actions taken will have to wait until after the report is released.
Yesterday, the Metropolitan Police announced it had also launched its own investigation into the parties.
