BRUSSELS (Reuters) - IAG-owned Vueling on Monday secured EU approval to take over 18 daily slots at Paris Orly airport slots which its rival Air France had to give up in return for EU regulatory approval of its 4-billion-euro ($4.7 billion) capital hike.

The European Commission said the move would allow the Spanish carrier to start operating the new routes as of November.

"This will enable Vueling to expand its activities at this highly congested airport, helping to ensure fair prices and increased choice for European consumers," European Vice President Margrethe Vestager said in a statement.
