The data reflects the growing popularity of EVs across various segments of the market, with models from different manufacturers making significant strides in sales.
The Kia Sportage leads the pack with 4,239 registrations, closely followed by the Ford Puma and Nissan Qashqai.
It’s worth noting that while traditional automotive giants like BMW, Audi, and Volkswagen are well-represented in the list, newer entrants and lesser-known brands like MG also feature prominently, indicating a diverse range of choices for consumers interested in electric mobility.
Comparing the data to the bestselling EVs in 2023, there have been notable changes in the rankings.
While the Tesla Model Y maintained its position as the top-selling EV in 2023 with 35,899 registrations, the list for 2024 showcases a different set of models dominating the market.
The SMMT data underscores the accelerating transition towards electric mobility in the UK, driven by factors such as environmental awareness, government incentives, and advancements in EV technology.
As automakers continue to expand their electric vehicle offerings and infrastructure, the EV market is expected to witness further growth in the coming years.
