FTSE 100 movers: Miners under pressure; JMAT boosted by upgrade

Sharecast - Miners Glencore (LON:GLEN), Anglo American (LON:AAL), Antofagasta (LON:ANTO) and Rio Tinto (LON:RIO) all fell on the back of disappointing Chinese economic growth data.

Data out earlier showed that second-quarter gross domestic in China product grew by 6.3% year-on-year, missing expectations. The print for the second quarter marked a 0.8% pace of growth from the first quarter and was well behind the 7.3% increase in second quarter GDP forecast by analysts.

Online supermarket Ocado (LON:OCDO) was weaker ahead of half-year results on Tuesday.

On the upside, Johnson Matthey (LON:JMAT) rallied after Deutsche Bank (ETR:DBKGn) upgraded the shares to ‘buy’ from ‘hold’ and lifted the price target to 2,500p from 2,300p.

The bank said it sees upside potential from a) a successful pivot or b) a break-up.

Haleon (LON:HLN) was also on the rise after Futura Medical signed a licensing deal with the GSK spinoff.
