Britain to buy 17 more F-35 fighter jets

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain will buy 17 more F-35 fighter jets, defence minister Gavin Williamson said in a statement on Thursday.

The deal will mean Britain owns 35 of the stealth fighter jets by the end of 2022.

Britain has said that over the life of the programme, it will buy 138 aircraft, which are made by U.S. company Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT), and on which UK company BAE Systems (LON:BAES) is also a contractor.
