United Arab Emirates shares mixed at close of trade; DFM General up 0.57%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate & Construction, Banking and Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer Staples, Finance & Investment and Insurance sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.57%, while the ADX General index lost 0.34%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR), which rose 2.66% or 0.150 points to trade at 5.790 at the close. Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) added 3.72% or 0.01 points to end at 0.28 and Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC) was up 1.84% or 0.050 points to 2.770 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI), which lost 9.63% or 0.130 points to trade at 1.220 in late trade. DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE) declined 3.74% or 0.015 points to end at 0.386 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) shed 1.88% or 0.008 points to 0.418.

The top performers on the ADX General were Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which rose 7.46% to 0.720, Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was up 4.21% to settle at 0.990 and Em Driving Co (AD:DRIV) which gained 4.17% to close at 7.50.

The worst performers were Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which was down 9.23% to 0.590 in late trade, Gulf Medical Projects Co PSC (AD:GMPC) which lost 5.26% to settle at 1.80 and Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which was down 4.55% to 1.050 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 15 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 13 fell and 11 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.16% or 0.79 to $67.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.99% or 0.73 to hit $73.06 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.54% or 7.10 to trade at $1316.30 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.31% to 4.4421.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 91.60.
