United Arab Emirates shares mixed at close of trade; DFM General down 0.17%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Services, Consumer Staples and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Insurance, Transport and Banking sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.17%, while the ADX General index gained 1.61%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT), which rose 1.69% or 0.020 points to trade at 1.200 at the close. DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE) added 1.19% or 0.004 points to end at 0.341 and Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) was up 0.99% or 0.020 points to 2.050 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which lost 3.53% or 0.024 points to trade at 0.655 in late trade. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) declined 2.88% or 0.008 points to end at 0.270 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) shed 1.69% or 0.007 points to 0.407.

The top performers on the ADX General were Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which rose 5.36% to 0.5900, Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was up 4.24% to settle at 1.230 and First Abu Dhabi Bank PJSC (AD:FAB) which gained 3.32% to close at 14.00.

The worst performers were International Holding Company PJSC (AD:IHC) which was down 6.11% to 1.23 in late trade, Sharjah Group Co (AD:SG) which lost 3.70% to settle at 1.30 and Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was down 1.94% to 1.0100 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 19 to 15 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 rose and 5 declined, while 10 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.72% or 1.18 to $69.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.15% or 0.84 to hit $74.05 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.36% or 4.40 to trade at $1218.80 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.01% to 4.2471.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 95.16.
