Investing.com – Malaysia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Construction and Plantation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI fell 1.52% to hit a new 3-year low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were KLCC Property Holdings Bhd (KL:KLCC), which rose 0.14% or 0.01 points to trade at 6.90 at the close. Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) fell 1.41% or 0.07 points to end at 4.90 and Petronas Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETR) was up 0.20% or 0.04 points to 20.06 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Axiata Group Bhd (KL:AXIA), which lost 1.38% or 0.08 points to trade at 5.73 in late trade. DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) declined 2.38% or 0.12 points to end at 4.93 and IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) shed 1.75% or 0.07 points to 3.94.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 521 to 83 and 22 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.30% or 0.56 to $42.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.68% or 0.34 to hit $48.85 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.34% or 3.80 to trade at $1116.50 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.80% to 2.9158, while USD/MYR rose 0.96% to 4.1080.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 96.69.
