Investing.com – Malaysia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Industrial Products and Property sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI lost 1.08% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (KL:BATO), which rose 0.60% or 0.36 points to trade at 60.86 at the close. IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) added 0.50% or 0.02 points to end at 3.99 and Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) was up 0.34% or 0.01 points to 2.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB), which lost 3.45% or 0.19 points to trade at 5.31 in late trade. Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (KL:FGVH) declined 2.98% or 0.05 points to end at 1.63 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) shed 2.72% or 0.17 points to 6.08.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 509 to 75 and 29 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.17% or 1.29 to $58.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 2.35% or 1.49 to hit $61.77 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.40% or 4.70 to trade at $1177.90 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.09% to 2.8041, while USD/MYR rose 0.11% to 3.7858.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 95.95.
