Investing.com – Malaysia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction, Industrials and Trade & Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI lost 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KL:KLKK), which rose 0.09% or 0.02 points to trade at 22.46 at the close. Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) fell 0.16% or 0.01 points to end at 6.40 and Petronas Gas Bhd (KL:PGAS) was down 0.37% or 0.08 points to 21.42 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AMMB Holdings Bhd (KL:AMMB), which lost 2.50% or 0.15 points to trade at 5.86 in late trade. Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE) declined 2.43% or 0.06 points to end at 2.41 and RHB Capital Bhd (KL:RHBC) shed 2.37% or 0.18 points to 7.41.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 452 to 89 and 39 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.86% or 1.03 to $54.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 2.28% or 1.38 to hit $58.95 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.41% or 4.80 to trade at $1163.00 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.78% to 2.8262, while USD/MYR rose 1.08% to 3.8145.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 96.51.
