Investing.com – Malaysia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction, Property and Plantation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI lost 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (KL:FGVH), which rose 1.20% or 0.02 points to trade at 1.69 at the close. Hong Leong Bank Bhd (KL:HLBB) added 1.04% or 0.14 points to end at 13.58 and Petronas Gas Bhd (KL:PGAS) was up 0.56% or 0.12 points to 21.46 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR), which lost 2.96% or 0.09 points to trade at 2.95 in late trade. Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB) declined 2.28% or 0.36 points to end at 15.46 and MISC Bhd (KL:MISC) shed 1.74% or 0.14 points to 7.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 301 to 243 and 60 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.08% or 0.04 to $51.25 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.29% or 0.17 to hit $56.94 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.59% or 18.00 to trade at $1113.90 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.03% to 2.7765, while USD/MYR rose 0.32% to 3.8110.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 98.18.
