Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction, Mining and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 1.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB), which rose 3.52% or 0.54 points to trade at 15.86 at the close. Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) added 3.46% or 0.18 points to end at 5.38 and Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) was up 2.89% or 0.12 points to 4.27 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hong Leong Bank Bhd (KL:HLBB), which added 0.15% or 0.02 points to trade at 13.58 in late trade. DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) added 0.19% or 0.01 points to end at 5.40 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) gained 0.31% or 0.02 points to 6.41.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 307 to 260 and 39 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.84% or 0.90 to $47.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.26% or 0.67 to hit $52.64 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.73% or 8.00 to trade at $1080.70 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.18% to 2.7805, while USD/MYR fell 0.08% to 3.8278.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 97.55.
