Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction, Industrials and Trade & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 1.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were MISC Bhd (KL:MISC), which rose 5.31% or 0.41 points to trade at 8.13 at the close. Telekom Malaysia Bhd (KL:TLMM) added 3.67% or 0.24 points to end at 6.78 and IHH Healthcare Bhd (KL:IHHH) was up 3.36% or 0.19 points to 5.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR), which lost 2.60% or 0.08 points to trade at 3.00 in late trade. YTL Corporation Bhd (KL:YTLS) declined 1.29% or 0.02 points to end at 1.53 and PPB Group Bhd (KL:PEPT) shed 0.13% or 0.02 points to 15.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 437 to 123 and 38 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.08% or 0.65 to $58.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.49% or 0.31 to hit $63.28 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1171.60 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.10% to 2.7830, while USD/MYR fell 0.12% to 3.7485.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 95.83.
