Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Plantation, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI rose 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KL:KLKK), which rose 4.29% or 0.92 points to trade at 22.38 at the close. Sime Darby Bhd (KL:SIME) added 3.35% or 0.28 points to end at 8.63 and DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) was up 2.66% or 0.15 points to 5.79 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB), which lost 2.56% or 0.14 points to trade at 5.32 in late trade. UMW Holdings Bhd (KL:UMWS) declined 1.32% or 0.14 points to end at 10.44 and Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE) shed 1.09% or 0.03 points to 2.72.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 315 to 255 and 42 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.64% or 1.00 to $60.26 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.68% or 1.10 to hit $64.39 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.54% or 6.40 to trade at $1188.00 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.42% to 2.7366, while USD/MYR rose 0.31% to 3.6870.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 96.27.
