Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Plantation, Construction and Consumer Products sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Petronas Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETR), which rose 1.17% or 0.24 points to trade at 20.80 at the close. Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) added 0.95% or 0.04 points to end at 4.24 and DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) was up 0.91% or 0.05 points to 5.53 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR), which lost 1.97% or 0.06 points to trade at 2.98 in late trade. Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB) declined 1.79% or 0.28 points to end at 15.40 and Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) shed 1.08% or 0.06 points to 5.48.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 335 to 203 and 50 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.61% or 0.34 to $56.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.56% or 0.35 to hit $61.72 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.32% or 3.70 to trade at $1167.20 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.59% to 2.8047, while USD/MYR rose 0.61% to 3.7813.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 96.08.
