Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which rose 5.72% or 0.57 points to trade at 10.53 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) added 4.78% or 0.93 points to end at 20.40 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 4.49% or 0.20 points to 4.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3), which lost 2.94% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.330 in late trade. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) declined 2.21% or 0.44 points to end at 19.50 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) shed 1.66% or 0.210 points to 12.440.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 195 to 104 and 9 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.06% to 30.01.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 2.09% or 24.60 to $1201.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.78% or 0.47 to hit $60.80 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.32% or 1.68 to trade at $128.28 .
USD/BRL was up 0.19% to 3.0589, while EUR/BRL rose 0.47% to 3.4783.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 94.21.
