Why do shares keep going up even when the underlying data is bad to grim? The major problem is that since the original QE and the subsequent periodic massive liquidity injections, all assets are expensive, relative to their intrinsic value. Shares are no exception. So what to own or buy is a tough question. The current game in town is TINA (there is no alternative) and equities are the vehicle of choice - easy to purchase, low barriers to entry and liquid. This will probably continue until inflation returns, or a major geopoltical event occurs. There will be wild swings on the way, but the trend is upwards. If in doubt, buy gold as a 'black swan' hedge. Some day, fundamentals will return to the market, but while we have the "Fed put" running on full power, that day is a long way away.....  ... (Read More)

The irony is that >50% of "investors" who bought during May woulda made MORE in a safe Savings Account if they buy&hold.  You aren't getting paid for your RISK.  Smart bulls took profits weeks ago, as everyone who's lived through QE1 and QE2 knows next month will be DEFLATION and MM's take the "2nd leg down into the W" during that 1st deflationary month.  ... (Read More)

Back to waiting for the next catalyst. Short term trend is now down so in theory should be looking for shorts into strength. It's good in theory but these are strange times in the markets and too many unpredictable players who can move the needle like crazy. What is certain is that there WILL be "second wave" dips, so watch out for those to buy.  ... (Read More)
